Okay, probably my last submission for a while. I think I'm up to date now.
I adore this painting, it's the first thing I've done this year that I actually like and it's a good indication of my current direction. I'd have serious trouble selling it.
It's oil on canvas, quite big. Took 3 days from start to finish.
These are black and white minstrels, entertainers used to dress up like that up to the 70's, I think. And vatious manga use that sort of stylisation of black people, I can think of a few examples. Didnt know about dragonball, though.
hmmm... you're talking about the seventies, when i saw this i imediately thought of some late 20's early 30's American Movies, alot of times they would have white people dress up like black people, (most notably comedians) and they would look like that.
